Mathematics Education (7-12), B.S.
This degree is directed to a career goal of teaching. This program includes the course requirements leading to the new New York State certification in grades 7-12.


Mathematics Education (7-12), 4+1, B.S. + M.S.
This degree is directed to a career goal of teaching. This program includes the course requirements leading to the new New York State certification in grades 7-12. This program allows students to take up to 9 credit hours from the Mathematics Education Graduate Program with the intention of completing a Masters in another year.

This degree is directed to a career goal of teaching. This program includes the course requirements leading to New York State certification in grades 5-12.

Elementary Education Concentration
For Elementary Education Majors whose content area is mathematics and are only seeking Elementary Education B-6 certification. 

Elementary Education Certification Extension K-9
For Elementary Education Majors whose content area is mathematics and wish to add Mathematics Certification K-9 in addition to Elementary Education B-6. 

Graduate Programs

Mathematics Education (7-12), M.S.Ed.

This program is designed to develop, enhance, and extend the content knowledge and professional competencies of secondary mathematics teachers. Completion of this master of science program does not lead to New York State initial teaching certification. Those interested in receiving initial certification should consider the postbaccalaureate teacher certification program in mathematics education grades 7-12 (7055).

There is no road map for the M.S.Ed. program. Please consult with your advisor for course selections.

Mathematics Education (7-12), Postbaccalaureate Teacher Certification

The mathematics education (7–12) postbaccalaureate teacher certification program leads to eligibility for a New York State initial certificate to teach mathematics in grades 7–12. This program is designed for students who have earned a baccalaureate degree in mathematics from an accredited college or university and intend to complete coursework required for New York State certification to teach mathematics.

Mathematics Education (7-12; 5-6 Extension), Teacher Certification Extension

This program is designed for students who are currently enrolled in the mathematics education 7–12 postbaccalaureate teacher certification program (7055) or who have been approved for candidacy in the mathematics education master's program (6620). It allows them to extend certification in mathematics to grades 5–12.
