The Mathematics Department provides a robust and expansive curriculum for its students. Whether pursuing a degree in mathematics or mathematics education, Buffalo State students are supplied with the tools and knowledge for professional placement, advanced learning, and further study.

Students in the undergraduate mathematics programs take the same required core courses, along with the general education courses required by the college, and choose from the same list of mathematics electives.

**Applied Mathematics, B.S.**

The applied mathematics B.S. program is directed toward a career goal for computer-related government, industrial, or business employment. It may also provide a basis for entry into graduate school in mathematics or computer science.

**Mathematics, B.A.**

The mathematics B.A. provides a basis for entry into graduate school in mathematics, mathematics education, or computer science. The degree may also be directed toward a career goal for computer-related government, industrial, or business employment.

**Mathematics Minor**

The mathematics minor enables students in other majors to develop math skills that will broaden their career options. More information on this study option can be found on the Mathematics Department Server.

**4+1 Undergraduate Math + PACM Graduate**

Gain your undergraduate degree in math + your graduate degree in Professional Applied and Computational Mathematics in 5 years saving you time and money.

**4+1 Undergraduate Math + DSA Graduate**

Gain your undergraduate degree in math + your graduate degree in Data Science and Analytics in 5 years saving you time and money.

**Mathematics Education (7-12), B.S.**

This degree is directed to a career goal of teaching. This program includes the course requirements leading to the new New York State certification in grades 7-12.

**Mathematics Education (7-12), 4+1, B.S. + M.S.**

This degree is directed to a career goal of teaching. This program includes the course requirements leading to the new New York State certification in grades 7-12. This program allows students to take up to 9 credit hours from the Mathematics Education Graduate Program with the intention of completing a Masters in another year. Brochure and pathway.

**Mathematics Education (7-12; 5-6 Extension), B.S.**

This degree is directed to a career goal of teaching. This program includes the course requirements leading to New York State certification in grades 5-12.

**Elementary Education Concentration**

For Elementary Education Majors whose content area is mathematics and are only seeking Elementary Education B-6 certification. Visit the Mathematics Department Server for more information on this concentration.

**Elementary Education Certification Extension K-9**

For Elementary Education Majors whose content area is mathematics and wish to add Mathematics Certification K-9 in addition to Elementary Education B-6. Visit the Mathematics Department Server for more information on this certification offering.
