Courses in pure mathematics pertain to the foundations of contemporary mathematics—its methods, applications, and uses.

These courses also address how contemporary mathematical techniques can solve the wide variety of problems that arise in a rapidly changing society.

Mathematics education courses provides classroom and field experience designed to help students make informed decisions about careers in secondary or middle school mathematics teaching.

An emphasis is placed on the reflective observation of teaching and learning, and the classroom, school, and community contexts in which they occur.
